Moved With Fear
Text: Hebrews 11:7
By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
Aim: To examine how Noah allowed faith to produce Godly fear, and fear to produce action unto salvation.
I. The Warning "...being warned of God of things not seen as yet..."
A. The origin of the warning "...being warned of God..."
1. The warning was from God.
2. Noah's faith believed God.
3. Do you believe God?
B. The unusual nature of the warning "...of things not seen as yet..."
1. Noah had never seen rain.
2. Revelation 6-9 warns us of nearly unbelievable events that happen after the Rapture.
3. Do you believe what the Bible says about what will happen on this planet in the future?
II. The Motivation "...moved with fear, prepared an ark..."
A. Noah's motivation "...moved with fear..."
1. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.
2. Noah allowed his fear to produce action.
3. Are you allowing your fear of God to produce godliness in your life?
B. Noah's action ..."prepared an ark.."
1. Preparation indicates action in advance.
2. Preparation indicates hard work or labor.
3. Are you preparing in advance for Jesus' return?
III. The Reward "...to the saving of his house, by the which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith."
A. Noah found salvation. "...to the saving of his house..."
1. For himself
2. For his household.
3 Are you preparing your household for heaven?
B. Noah received an eternal inheritance "...he condemned the world and became heir of ...righteousness.."
1. He turned his back on the world and missed judgement.
2. He received a righteous inheritance.
3. Will your life end in a righteous inheritance?
C. Noah started by faith and ended in faith "By faith Noah.... which is by faith."
1. Noah's journey started by faith. He believed God's warning.
2. Noah's journey ended in faith. He received righteousness by faith.
3. Noah made if from the start of his journey to the end by faith.
Altar Call
To sinners:
1. Have you started this Christian journey by faith?
2. Do you believe what the Bible says about Jesus' return and His judgement afterward?
3. Would you like to let fear move you into escaping God's judgement?
To Christians:
1. Are you directing your family's life so that they will be ready for Jesus' return?
2. Is your faith carrying you through, or do you need some help to make it?
Jesus is the answer. Believe His warnings. Prepare for His coming.
Let Him give you the faith you need to make it through the Pearly Gates
